The
Chehalis Tribe is asking a federal judge to block Thurston County, Washington, from assessing taxes on the Great Wolf Lodge.

The tribe says the county lacks authority to collect property taxes on the indoor water park and hotel. The tribe cites a determination from the state Department of Revenue to support its case.

The county, however, claims it can tax the portion of the resort that is not owned by the tribe. Great Wolf Resorts Inc., a non-Indian company, owns 49 percent of the business.

The lodge is located entirely on trust land.
